What to Expect

First Call:

When you first call, we will provide some initial information about the Community Counselling Centre in order to ensure you are aware that we are a training facility, and answer any questions you may have. If you choose to go ahead with booking an intake appointment we will require your full name, a phone number, and an email address. Initial intake sessions are often able to be scheduled within a week or so of your initial call.

Once your intake is booked you will be emailed our intake package through Jane, the practice management software we use.

Please complete these forms online before your scheduled intake appointment. If you do not have access to email or a computer, please let us know and we will arrange for you to complete the intake forms when you arrive for your appointment.

Recording:

As part of our training, each counselling session is audio and video recorded. These recordings help the student counsellors to learn and hone their skills, and help the supervisors guide your treatment plan. Recording equipment is hardwired through the CCC and recordings are stored directly on a desktop computer in the building which is behind a locked door. Recordings are only viewed in this room and at no time are ever connected via internet, transferred to other devices, or shared with anyone outside of the CCC. Recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.

If you have any questions about this process, please reach out.

During Intake:
Our intake sessions are part of our training process. This means that at times students counsellors may be accompanied by their supervisor in order to provide in the moment feedback and to ensure that you are receiving all the necessary information about the CCC and our services. Our intake sessions are intended to gather information regarding your concerns to help guide the therapy process and to determine if our services at the CCC fit your needs.
In our dedication to supporting you, should our services not be a fit we will support you in connecting with other more suitable community resources.

*Note: Intake sessions are not recorded

Waitlist:

After your intake appointment, and if it is determined that the CCC is a good fit for you, you will be placed on our waitlist. We are unable to provide specifics on how long the waitlist will be as it is dependent on client needs and counsellor availability. Generally you can expect the waitlist to be at least a few months.

Once you are on our waitlist, you may call to book one-off "waitlist check-in" appointments if your situation or the severity of your issues changes. These waitlist check-in appointments are not meant to be regular occurrences, and if you are needing more immediate service and are unable to wait, we may suggest other community resources. You can maintain your spot on our waitlist while accessing other resources.

Once assigned:

Once you are assigned a counsellor they will contact you to schedule an appointment.
Student counsellors are in their placement at the CCC for 8 months, which is the length of service offered to clients. It is recommend that clients attend counselling once per week, though some choose to attend once every two-weeks. Please discuss this with your counsellor.

If you have any further questions about these processes, please don't hesitate to reach out.
